Adult Forums are usually offered twice per month at 11:30 am in the parish hall.  These forums highlight critical social issues and ministries in the community. The Children's Choir rehearses during Adult Forums. Upcoming forums include...

  • October 8—Elections 2006: Issues and Candidates
Learn about some of the key issues and the various candidates’ positions to help prepare you for these crucial midterm elections in November.
  • October 22—ICARE
The mission of the Interfaith Coalition of Advocates for Reentry and Employment (ICARE) is to eliminate barriers to reentry by leading a “Restoration of Rights” campaign in the restorative justice tradition. Our vestry recently voted to become partners with this organization.
  • November 12—Our Health Care System: As You Like It/Want It
James Halkett, PhD, will lead us in a discussion of where we are and where we are not in having health care for all. He will also conduct a short health care reform survey so that you will get a chance to express your opinion about the possibility of a single payer system, how medical decisions should be made, the cost of prescription drugs, and many more related issues.
  • November 26—Interfaith Action
The mission of Interfaith Action is to restore a sense of community in Rochester and teach people how to address and resolve the issues that concern them the most. Members of our parish are involved on the board.
  • December 10—The Equal Marriage Campaign in NYS
Todd Plank, a marriage equality field organizer, will present information about where we are now in New York State after the recent court ruling against gay and lesbian partners having access to legal marriage. He will also suggest ways for us to get involved in building support for legislation supporting equal marriage.
  • January 14—Re-Entry Case Management
Robert Seidel plans to update us on the status of the Monroe County re-entry program for persons recently released from jails and prisons, and give us suggestions for advocacy.
  • February 11—Our Children: Poverty or Peace?
This is the annual Public Policy Sunday for both the Episcopal and the Roman Catholic Dioceses. This year’s shared focus is how skewed budget priorities at all levels of government are placing our children at risk.
  • February 25 —A Meal and More, Inc.
A Meal and More is a soup kitchen that provides nutritious meals and caring friendship to needy people in a safe environment. The program operates out of Christ Church, Rochester, and serves meals every Wednesday and Sunday. Our parish is involved every third Sunday of the month.
  • March 11—TBA
  • March 25—Rochester Interfaith Hospitality Network
The mission of RAIHNis to provide temporary accommodations, food, and compassionate friendship to those families in the Rochester area who have been temporarily-displaced from their homes. Our parish hosts families in the program for a week, four times a year.
  • April 22—TBA
  • May 13—TBA
  • May 20—United Thank Offering
The mission of the  United Thank Offering is to expand the circle of thankful people. To achieve this mission, they encourage daily prayers, offerings and awareness of the abundance of God's blessings. Every year our church participates in the UTO ingathering and presents our offering at Diocesan Convention.

Seasonal Formation Offerings are provided throughout the year.  Most courses are in the early evening and are four to six weeks in length.  Topics vary from year to year.  Everyone is welcome to attend any or all sessions in a series.  Dinner is frequently a part of our fellowship during these classes.  Watch the bulletin to know where and when to sign up.  Child care can be arranged if requested prior to the start of the series.

Here are the two programs currently in the works...

An Epiphany Series: Reaching Out in the Spirit

Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30, Feb. 6; Tuesdays at 6:00-7:30 pm

On five Tuesdays in the season after Epiphany we will take a look at spiritual practices, our own and four others (Native American, Celtic, Quaker and Buddhist spiritualities).  Presenters discussing the other traditions will present basic principals and practices in that tradition, and then discuss how these have informed their lives as Christians.  It is a great opportunity to learn and reflect on ways to broaden your own life in Christ.
A Lenten Reading Group: Money, Economics and Justice

Feb. 27, March 6,13,20,27, April 3: Tuesdays, 5:30-7:00 pm

Our study will be guided by the book Simpler Living, Compassionate Life, a book of essays by modern spiritual leaders.  We will begin by looking at our own stories and our relationship with money.  The topics for all six weeks are:
  • February 27—Storytelling: Listening to our Lives
  • March 6—Eco-justice and Money
  • March 13—The Place of Money in Modern Life
  • March 20—The Great Economy
  • March 27—Lifestyles & Global Economics
  • April 3—The Broader Implications of our Everyday Food Choices.

Our national church made a commitment to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) at the General Convention this past June.  This is an opportunity to begin a personal conversation about some of the economic choices integral to the achievement of these goals.

An Education for Ministry (EfM) class is held every Sunday (from September thru May).

Youth (6th-12th grade)

Sunday school is offered on most Sundays at 9:45 am.  The youth class is using Seasons of the Spirit, a curriculum developed by an ecumenical group of Christian educators. It follows the Revised Common Lectionary and incorporates the Internet, the arts, and music in weekly lessons. Youth return to the service at the Passing of the Peace. The fall schedule is...

Children (kindergarten-5th grade)

Sunday school is offered three Sundays a month at 9:45 am.  The children's class is using Beulah Land and incorporating some aspects of Godly Play. Both are Montessori-based programs grounded in storytelling that give kids an opportunity to respond to Bible stories they hear. Once a month the children will celebrate a child-friendly Eucharist together as part of their class. These Sundays are noted in red on the calendar below.  On these Sundays they will stay in class throughout the 10 am church service.  On other Sundays they will return to the church at the Passing of the Peace to rejoin their families.
